Kousuke was born in East Izumo Town, Shimane Prefecture.
Around the time he was in high school, Kousuke took part in some community woodworking activities such as making fishing lures and Japanese green tea saucers using a mini lathe. After this his love for woodworking grew. He also got the chance to meet Mr. Ryozo Kawakita a certified Japanese living national treasure of Kawakita wood crafts. Upon completion of high school, Kousuke entered Ishikawa Prefectural Yamanaka Lacquerware Industry of Technology Center where Mr. Kawakita was a lecturer.
