Wood Crafts
Kousuke was born in East Izumo Town, Shimane Prefecture.
Around the time he was in high school, Kousuke took part in some community woodworking activities such as making fishing lures and Japanese green tea saucers using a mini lathe. After this his love for woodworking grew. He also got the chance to meet Mr. Ryozo Kawakita a certified Japanese living national treasure of Kawakita wood crafts. Upon completion of high school, Kousuke entered Ishikawa Prefectural Yamanaka Lacquerware Industry of Technology Center where Mr. Kawakita was a lecturer.
While at the center, Kousuke studied under Japan Crafts Association member Mr. Eihou Tsuji. Under Mr. Tsuji’s tutelage, Kousuke learned the correct method of operating the lathe so that the full beauty of the wood grain could be manifested in the wood product.
Kousuke also, learned Japanese tea ceremony, to further develop the appreciation that the customer feels.
Kousuke opened his own wood craft shop in 2009.
