Glass
For as long as he could remember, Yasushi dreamed of making things with his own hands. So it was only natural that he entered the glass course of the comprehensive modeling department at Aichi Prefectural Educational University.
During his study in this course he cultivated his interest in glass and took a position at Glass Art Museum in Okuizumo town in Shimane prefecture where he worked for 12 years.
Yasushi went independent in 2009 with the launching of his own “Zap glass studio.”
Glassblowing is a glass forming technique that involves inflating molten glass into a bubble (or parison), with the aid of a blowpipe (or blow tube). Using this method, the glass can be formed into most any shape.
One original technique incorporated at Zap glass studio is taking a blob of molten glass and letting gravity and centrifugal force form the rim of the glass naturally while it is still hot.
Yasushi also produces vases wrapped with multi-layered glass lines.
Water is the source of life and Yasushi draws from this motif of nature for the inspiration of his glass.2010 Shimane Prefectural Art Exhibition (crafts department) Silver Award 2011 Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition China Branch Exhibition 2012 9th Annual Beer Mug Exhibition, Shimane Prefectural Art Exhibition (crafts department) Crafts Federation Award 2013,2014 Maison & Objet Paris (exhibited) Zap glass studio
